Introduction                                                          

The Council for Allied Health Professions Research (CAHPR) was created in 2014 by bringing together the Research Forum for Allied Health Professionals and the Allied Health Professions Research Network.

CAHPR’s mission is to develop AHP research, strengthen evidence of the professions’ value and impact for enhancing service user and community care, and enable the professions to speak with one voice on research issues, thereby raising their profile and increasing their influence.
 
CAHPR comprises three groups:
 
UK-wide regional hub network
 
There are 23 regional hubs whose overall aim is to support allied health professionals to develop research skills and to promote the use of the evolving evidence-base in practice. CAHPR hubs are able to provide research advice and support about the following:

• Getting started in research
• Grant and fellowship applications
• Enhancing research collaborations
• Writing for publication         
• Disseminating recent research outcomes
• Mentorship and 1:1 support
• Funding and career development opportunities

Strategy Committee

The Strategy Committee has responsibility for overseeing CAHPR’s outward-facing activity, its operations and development and coordinates responses to consultations. It has agreed an operational plan for 2017-2022 that identifies four strategic objectives to deliver the CAHPR mission.

Professoriate
 
The Professoriate enables AHP Professors from across the UK to meet, sharing perspectives and expertise in order to develop AHP research. The Professoriate feeds into work and identifies priorities for the Strategy Committee.

 CAHPR is supported by the 12 members of the AHPF and the Institute of Osteopathy 

CAHPR Partners

CAHPR is working in partnership with several organisations including:

• Public Health England to promote AHP research in public health
• National Institute for Health Research Clinical Research Network to develop AHP research champions.
